I mean, yeah but at some point the whole idea of Onlyfans was that any random person (even beyond porn), could start their own profile where they post content and fans could subscribe for a small fee and get that content, without the need for hosting and running a whole separate site and payment system. Part of that idea being to interact with that content creator. Obviously there can't be an expectation of 'be my online friend 24/7 because I paid you' but just the idea that you're communicating with the actual person.
This 'crunch the numbers, maximize profits' stuff is everywhere in the business world. That doesn't mean it's good or desirable or makes for a better product. Like, when you've got a family run pizza store at the corner, that makes their pizza in an old brick oven with fresh ingredients. You might look at this and go 'it'd only be logical to use an electric oven and canned ingredients to make cheaper pizza faster' but it's not gonna be the same quality, is it?
It's easy to claim that 'everyone would do it cause it's logical' but not every model does and a lot of the ones who have switched to that system have completely ruined their profiles. I've seen a few creators practically balk at the idea of letting some agency run their stuff or even do things like introduce a 'VIP membership' cause they genuinely think it's scammy and weird.
I have no idea if doing this makes creators more money across the board, I certainly have no before/after numbers for this and I absolutely understand that the 'I have a million followers on Instagram' girls who start Onlyfans aren't gonna do anything other than provide a folder of pictures for an agency. I just refuse to believe that that's the logical and only way to run Onlyfans to be successful.
