How technically incompetent porn producers are. It isn't so bad from the major studios, but the gonzo crowd is woeful. Shot composition to poor lighting and poor filming techniques. They charge a premium, but offer amateur productions.

I remember when widescreen was starting to take off and every fucking scene was a sea of Dutch angles as they tried to "fill" the new screen real estate.

They also have very little idea how to set up the expensive equipment they buy that they think will turn them into fucking Fellini. Two major studios were shooting content in true 4K and didn't even bother to resize it to 16:9 for release, so everyone looked squished thin. In fact, I think legalporno are still doing it. The bullshit with early DVD releases not being true widescreen and a bewildering array of frame rate errors. The reality is, a ten billion dollar industry is made up of people just winging it. The amount of guys who end up producing porn, not because they are skilled, but because they could get an erection on demand and just ending up making their own content.

I think the best solution for any sort of amateur production is just to light the set properly, then set up multiple cameras and leave them alone. Arrange the set so the performers just stay in shot. Don't use a bed, use a couch or a table, and keep them off the floor. Maybe have one guy with a handheld move around for some additional footage, then get an editor on fiverr to fix it afterwards.

It's amazing to me how not just porn companies but professional 'media' companies fuck this up, and leave the editor with nothing to work with.

Also if they don't know how to set up a top of the range camera, they should just get 5 or 6 GoPros copy the settings and scatter them everywhere.
