Its not blacklisted, you can still use it. We just don't recommend it, same as gofile. We'd like people to move away from it where possible, people use pixeldrain for things that would fit on jpg or saint.

Your point is valid, the only alternative I can think of right now is 1fichier which is not great, thats why we cant blacklist it, that and they havent taken down everything.

The short version is the owner of Pixeldrain no longer likes hosting porn.

The long version is pixeldrain has been banned by a number of countries including Italy, India, Phillipines etc. the owner believes this is because of the porn / copyrighted content being shared using pixeldrain, he wants to prevent anymore countries blocking his website and is making big changes.
In the past month or so:
  • He has added a porn report function to take down links with over 1000 views that have porn
  • He is responding to DMCAs far more than before
  • He appears to have reduced how many copyright strikes an IP needs before he bans the IP for ~3 months
  • He will shortly require users make an account before uploading so that he can ban the account if it gets a copyright strike
Our dead links thread is becoming a pixeldrain graveyard with that being the host in there most.

Note:
We haven't banned gofile or pixeldrain but we want people to use alternatives because otherwise there wont be any content here.

BR

We really need a new/free alternative host for files over 2gb. As reliable as Bunkr is, its 2gb limit is very outdated (like phones with 128gb internals). Most of the time I get DMs asking for 4K versions (when available) of content that I have uploaded in 1080p and with Pixeldrain's copyright issues, I'm afraid 4K content will also be bowing out from here. Either that or people start forking out dough for Mega subscriptions.

Pop-ups pay for the servers which are really expensive and because bunkr ignores DMCA they cant use your normal dollar shave club style ads. If you ever get a bad ad on bunkr, let taco know and he sorts it, he's dropped ad providers over things like that in the past.

The biggest issue I have found with bunkr, is that you have to get a invite code from someone who is already using bunkr. Which in of itself is tricky. Ive tried 3 different people and they said they didn't have an invite code. Cyberdrop is a pain because it has a 500mb max upload. Ive had to fork over for a Mega subscription for the most part. It just seemed easier half the time.

Edit: Seems Bunkr will soon be getting rid of the need for invite codes to register, but until then...

This is why I always have multiple links when I post clips and recommend uploaders do the same. Also why having HEVC or now AV1 compressed files are important. They can have basically the same quality as the source when done on slow setting but a much smaller size. Which means it can fit Bunkrs 2gb maximum. Sometimes can even improve the quality when taking away grain and banding, while adding better color and contrast.

Another trick to make a large file fit is to split it in two. Something like MKV Toolnix has features to split it in parts. Then people downloading the files, can use the same software to put it back together, if they want. Zip files are another option but sometimes get corrupted and obviously you can't stream and watch them online. So splitting them is better.

Splitting/archiving is fine for a handful of files. Great for 1 or 2.

However, for those of us who have some weird autistic desire to upload 1TB+ of shit per day... not really feasible.

I hope Cyberfile will be getting fixed soon. If it was in working order it's a very direct replacement for pixeldrain. Not as fast on the up/downloads, but shit on cyberfile seems to last forever.

Otherwise the only options are gamble with PD's owner and see how much of these rule changes are him postering to see if he can strike a balance and keep the site going or, yeah, split files. Or refuse files over 2GB. Or buy Mega.... *shudder*

I have been noticing a large uptick in takedowns from PD recently. Some specific file names even seem to trigger some internal algo and automatically take the file down (before I even share it so it's not from reports. And no it wasn't illegal material. Just copyrighted stuff, as almost all of the porn is). It's still useable for the time being as far as I can tell. Gofile can host huge files too if the intent is a quick share, but long term it's dogshit.

The only last thing left, in the classic fashion, would be torrents. However, I have absolutely no desire to be seeding TBs of porn. Hugely cost and resource prohibitive....

I dunno, it's gonna be rough for a bit, but we'll make it through.

As Bob Ross (yes the painter) said: "You gotta have a little sadness once in a while so you know when the good times come."
