Support Notification issues?

I had a question concerning the notification icon: it doesn't seem to activate all the time and I was curious whether or not push notifications are what's preferred for this website? Do push notifications work better than the notification icon here? I've not been getting any alerts at any threads I've been following lately so I'm just curious whether or not it's a bug or I have my notification set up wrong somehow?

If I'm not mistaken, if you do not click on the alert when you receive it, you will not get another notification for it until you visit that thread again.

you can go to the bell icon a then click Mark Read, at the bottom, to clear all the unread posts, if you want

this has been an issue for a long time, there are a lot methods going around that might work, but it's not a 100% fix, clicking mark read like the post above me said is a good fix but it's temporarly and eventhough I click it everyday, I still miss a bunch of stuff that for whatever reason doesn't send me a notif.
