The "-re" command acted like you were recording your screen. So even if "your" bandwidth was high, the download time corresponded to the duration of the part of the video you were downloading. (So for example, a video that lasts 2 minutes = a screenshot that lasts 2 minutes, therefore a download that lasts 2 minutes.)
By deleting this command, it uses the maximum bandwidth allowed on the site and it no longer acts as a screen record but as a simple download link. Basically you are no longer “restricted” by the duration of the video but by the bandwidth of the site. So a video that lasts 3 minutes can be downloaded in 1 minute instead of waiting 3 minutes for it to be recorded.
There are no disadvantages to removing "-re", only advantages. I had put this command in to make sure the whole part of the video was downloaded while I was testing but I realized it wasn't necessary afterward.
