It's less an outright ban and more requiring either facial scans or ID for age verification instead of the typical "I totally promise I'm over 18" prompt. It's a requirement that first off requires sites to pay for services to do the verification (CB for example has Yoti as an option), but also is heavily frowned upon by privacy and security advocates such as the Electronic Frontier Foundation. Texas AG Ken Paxton is up to his usual bullshit of suing everyone who doesn't comply with the law and as a result PH (a target of one of Pax's suits) outright geoblocks Texas IP addresses. There's other states that are passing similar laws that are also having their IP ranges blocked as the laws take effect.
