TL;DR explaining wtf a parasocial relationship is; ranting about society on a fucking porn site
Dude, compared to the people that I'm talking about (her fans that are obsessed with her), we are normal. We're casuals next to them. What we're doing is just called being perverted, which is not much different from the billions of other porn watchers across the globe. Maybe we take it a bit far, but we're not ghouls. What we're doing isn't parasocial, we're just jacking off to her and critiquing her antics. It's weird but not super abnormal. We're not trying to interact with her or have any sort of meaningful relationship.
The people I'm talking about are not the creepy comment guys. I'm talking about the fans that genuinely think they are a part of her life. This is where needing to be professional comes in, and I'm talking a lot about this bc this is a problem that I see everywhere.
Here's the thing:
Social Media has made it so that tons of streamers and content creators have weird parasocial relationships with their fans. Dream comes to mind as a particularly bad example. Colleen Ballinger is another one. They feed off of their fans for validation and then blame them when it becomes a problem. Before social media, these people were usually crazy famous. People like Michael Jackson or Britney Spears. Freddie Mercury is an example of someone who knew how to handle his fans. Now it's just tons of people with big personalities who lack the discipline to not dump their personal issues onto their fans. Emma dumps heaps of emotional bullshit onto her fans constantly and complains that they reciprocate.
