Maybe it is just me but making fakes is like being back in school adding the face of someone you know to a Playboy centrefold.....childish and a total waste of time.

Agreed, it's going to be a dangerous thing. But I personally can't see how it will be stopped. 40 years ago if you did some porn in your younger years it probably wouldn't follow you into later life, but with the internet you can't escape it. Now add deep fakes and it will make everyone be very carful what they publish, if at all.

I personally don't see a problem if it's only for personal use, I mean it's not a stretch from our imaginations. But once it's out there, it's out there. The only solution I could see working would be a one time use program that can't be downloaded, but as I said before, it'll take 5 minutes for people to have a work around... who knows what'll happen.. i've heard of verification processes to check for deep fakes, but that doesn't help if your deep fake goes viral regardless.
