huh? The whole reason she came back to streaming was because it was impossible to maintain Alveus without the income streaming provided. She tried, had every intentions to quit and did so for a month. Then on her first stream back she basically explained that streaming was always a means to an end and that she never wanted to become a streamer, that it fell into her lap. But without streaming Alveus wouldn't survive. She compromised by taking a back seat as Maya the streamer and then tried her hardes to push her staff to the forefront of the channel while she took a step back.

Obviously that didn't work because her numbers tanked because no one cares about these randos and were always there for Maya the streamer regardless og Alveus. In fact the only reason Alveus has any support and has successful fund raisers is because Alveus is Maya's project, if she wasn't attached to it no one would care.

Sure, in the beginning of this year she was financially struggling, but by now I think she has saved up quite a bit of money with all the sponsors she has been doing on streams and videos plus her Wine About It patreon earning her 25k/month alone. She even wrote that book for a publisher to try and expand her options even more.

That's exactly my point. Without the industry and the avenues of income it provides Alveus would have been dead in the water. At some point she would have had to put her personal feelings aside and come back to streaming anyway. besides the fact that Alveus isn't self sustaining the whole point of Alveus to educate people through the medium of streaming. It's not open to the public, if they didn't stream it then it would have been just a bunch of random people doing busy work and taking care of broken domestic animals.

on a side note before the foxes came along I was so confused. They were taking care of farm animals, but it felt more serious then it was. Almost like they were RPing zoo staff, but then they are taking care of donkeys and isopods. I genuinely thought it was a scam for a while because they were pumping so much money into alveus through their fund raising streams.

Alveus is now self-sustaining as a channel with Maya on it (as in she doesn't use her own funds to keep the non-profit a float anymore).

Seems like her mod Spaceboy who always tries to avoid the cameras and does all the technical stuff for her streams talked some sense into her and convinced her to do more variety content again this year with and without collabs. She talked about her plans for this year at the beginning of todays mealprep and that she finally realized that a 10k viewer kickflip stream with some education is better than a 4 hour stream to the same 3k people over and over. Took them long enough lmfao, let's hope for some better stuff.

Yes, that's good for her and Alveus.

What I don't understand, she said she wants more viewers when she "goes live" on the Alveus channel. Fair enough. But people probably don't turn on their notifications for a channel that's online 24/7. At least I don't.

She either needs two Alveus channels, the 24/7 one and one just for when stuff is actually happening, where people turn on their notification for. Or she needs to promote the shit out of her events when they go live. Tweets, Insta, Tiktok whatever.

She doesn't even link her channels when she post a new video or goes live. That's just bad form.

Well fuck, she said no mealprep streams anymore because lower viewer numbers. She says it went from 7k for the first mealprep to now 4k and thinks it's because of the mealprep becoming boring. Am I thinking too negatively about twitch viewers when my guess for the decline in numbers is the fact that since it came back she put less and less effort into what she wore? Like, just compare what she wore that first and second stream to now just wearing a hoodie and long jeans.

Maya need to put on more effort if she wants to get back to her viewership pre- you know what era. It's been so long that she did something fun and also when u genuinely hate streaming and u just try to force that distance that wasn't there before the vibes are not the same and viewers pick on that. I would have loved watching Maya cook before I like cooking in general (I watch multiple channel in YouTube for that). But the vibes are off , she just hates streaming and I can feel it.

You can definitely tell that she wasn't that comfortable when she did the "saving the world for dummys" episode when all the other Austin streamers showed up. And I agree that sometimes the vibe is off and you can tell she would rather do her normal work and not stream. She treats streaming like a necessary part of her job.
On the other side this means her streams and planning are much more professional than most other streamers.
Her kickflip streams showed her, she can still reach a 10k+ audience. This wednesday it's knife throwing and I'm looking forward to it.
