Hi guys. I want to upload a handful of VR video for other users, but I don't know if the files I have are good.
I download VR videos to watch on my Mac screen, and to do that effectively, I have to add metadata to the files that allows the VLC player to play the VR videos as 360 videos. I do it using an app called Spatial Media Metadata Injector.
The videos remain the same size and quality and format. It's just the metadata that changes. But I don't know how that affects other users watching on VR headsets or different video players or OSs.
Without the metadata the videos will play split in half, side by side and heavily distorted on my Macbook. With the metadata added they look like a 360 video you can rotate around.
Does anybody know if I can upload them just the same?

Give it a try. You might have an issue with your vlc plugin. I know in the past a long time ago I edited some playback option to have it play as a sphere on a laptop, but the actual video was side by side.
If that's the case, then any VR player should be able to play it
