There is nothing that stops us from using an Oculus Quest2/Quest3 with only Local Network Access to our local VR library and disallowing any internet access. You could even just get a separate 5Ghz router for it. For me it’s always more about feeling not comfortable knowing I am or could be tracked in the moment. Same reason we put a sticker on our webcam ( himself).

I just added everything oculus related to my windows firewall and blocked internet access there. I doubt the same can be done if you are setting up a headset for the first time, because it'll need to download drivers, but once it is working, blocking it in the firewall should be fine. VR apps can still access the network. Skybox, deo, etc. The only thing you can't do is download and update apps through the oculus client, which isn't a big deal because you aren't loading them into the headset.. For the rift S at least.
Yeah, the names of all the VR porn files you have watched on a Meta headset are probably in a database somewhere, and there's a non-zero chance that database will be hacked and searchable online someday by everyone. But I don't think the device is sending images or video of anyone's dick from the front facing cameras back to Meta. That would be a bigger scandal.
Aren't those the two things anyone is worried about? Does anyone actually care if the porn you are watching is being used to tailor advertising specifically to you?
Personally, I don't care about any of those things. I think 9 out of 10 adults under 50 probably watch some porn, and anyone who actually cares what types of legal porn other people are watching isn't someone I want to have anything to do with. Like, I don't even want to work for an employer that would judge someone based upon the porn they watch in their own home

Oh no. Mark Zukerburg is going to make an account on simpcity and various other piracy sites that I visit, usenet, and torrent trackers, trying to guilt trip me into paying for my porn. I'm shaking in my boots.
Outside of seeing some targeted ads for oculus back in early 2019 when I bought my headset, I haven't seen a single ad for VR anything ever. I'm confident that my data isn't being used to train Mark how to procreate like a human.
Back on the topic of VR, I'm kind of jived that some of the models I follow no longer make VR... Eva Elfie is one that comes to mind. Guess we need to wait a few more years for AI to improve by another order of magnitude so that the layman can make some AI VR videos.. A shame
I think if the Apple headset is a success at all, and people care to make spatial videos with the iPhone 15 and its successor, I bet we get lots of consumer cameras that record VR video, even if the stereo separation isn't quite as good as a professional rig. Maybe the iPhone 16 will be able to record spatial video and regular video at the same time. That would get the OnlyFans girls using it more. I think the 15 only does 1080p 30, which is of course GARBAGE in VR video terms.
This will obviously only work as Long as meta doesn’t add any new IP‘s/domains and also doesnt hardcode their own dns into the system.
my Router got the option to block internet access for a device, I did that for the HP printer but can still print to it through the local network.
They can change their IPs all they want, it doesn't matter. If you block firefox.exe from the internet via firewall, it's going to be blocked no matter if you try to browse to google, 1.1.1.1 or 192.168.1.1.
I'll only encounter an issue if I try to use my headset on another computer, or if I need to reinstall windows... but because I take a twice yearly flat image of my PC that has the oculus software, that is very unlikely that I'll need to reinstall windows
