There was a round with emails to notify active members, but not all of them used an (valid) emailadress with registration. So they need to learn about it from Reddit or Google.

The issue is more the fact that it takes time and effort , plus you have to be more cautious each time.
Pretty sure the lawyer was hanging out on reddit on the thotsbay_forum, and those white knight on r/fightcampiracy legit made a post few hr after the site was working again (so pretty sure those people actively visit this kinda websites,lmaoo) but if they are really persistent then it will be a problem.

Thank you so much to the folks who worked hard to bring this back. That being said, we need to look at more options to fight back against the lovely people like that shithead lawyer john dibitchass and any of the whores that want to try and fight piracy. All options should be explored, including an onion website probably. TOR is a simple browser to use, I'm not very techy and manage it well enough. We can beat these guys even better than we already are.

If you followed their twitter it was pretty obvious what went down. At first they suspected the DNS provider (Cloudflare) to be screwed up for a few hours (they had made a post which stated as much but it wasn't up for long). Then a lawyer walks into the comments and links the judgement by a real court/judge so at that time the owners/staff knew shit was real.

They post their statement saying thotsbay is gone on twitlonger but then under the comments posted "don't worry everything is backed up". Once I saw that message it was obvious they would be coming back - why else admit to having backups while your site got actively shutdown?

Anyways, new owners now but we can all assume the mod team and other staff are largely the same. The technical "owners" presumably are not going to come close to touching this site since the lawyer had their RL contact info and a court case on their heels.
