This site has been absolutely awful ever since they updated it last fall to add on-click ads everywhere "Migrate all the data".
It used to be reasonably stable, now it seems its down for some slowdown fix practically weekly it feels like. Wish they would have just left well-enough alone.

The site grew dramatically, the server has been changed multiple times to keep up with demand. If everything had been left alone this site wouldn't load at all.
Saturday evening is usually the weekly low and there's almost 52K online right now, everything I click opens instantly.

I'm sure the on-click ads definitely make the site load 5% faster!

its not about speed, its about "sorry, down for maintenance 3-5 hours" all the damn time.
Look, if you need to monetize the site, whatever just say it. But don't piss on my leg and say its raining. The update that brought all these headaches was the same one that brought the insane popup ads, including the annoying ones that open a small window in the corner of your screen and jump back and forth to opposite corners

Of course the site has to be monetised, it always was and no-ones ever said it wasn't, servers, bandwidth etc aren't free...

The ads are something like once every 15-30 mins on the forum with saint being something different (it has other expensive servers to pay for). Most peoples visits are much less than 15-30 mins, more like 3-5 mins so you get one ad per visit, unless you are running something that blocks the cookie used to store when you were last shown an ad or opening a new incognito window in which case you'll get it more frequently. This was explained back when this change was made.

If there's some sort of malicious ad, make a ticket with the contact us button at the bottom of the page and give us some info about it

This is quite a revisionist take. Pretty sure the yiff.party admin shot the doggie due to a hobby project becoming a hindrance. The codebase for the first kemono (back when it was open source) didn't look like it was a port of existing project by original creator but rather someone else recreating it from scratch. Coomer was also unrelated to kemono until its admin vanished leaving the source code behind, which also worked entirely differently from kemono, so the current coomer is more of a skinwalker of the OG coomer.
