Question RedGIFs pausing opens the gif/video in a new tab

So I've started having this problem maybe a month or two ago, can't remember exactly.
Whenever I try to pause an embedded video/gif from RedGIFs, it pauses the video but also opens a new tab and directs me to the video on RedGIFs' site. Has anyone else had this happen and is there any fix? Happens on both Firefox and Chrome

in a new tab. Then after I come back to the embed, if I click on the paused icon (in the middle) it starts playing as it's supposed to and doesn't open a new tab, but if I click outside of the icon it does

there doesnt seem to be a simple way to remove the redirect when click() but it looks like you can use uBlock Origin or maybe Firefox popup settings to prevent the popup.

I've had this problem for a while as well. Adding this line to the custom Adblock filters seems to fix it for me.
www.redgifs.com##.videoLink:remove-attr(href)
