How to download torrents?​

Disclaimer:
Some people in Europe reported being fined by using torrents.
Use at your own risk.
Some countries/ISP's have blocked torrents. (you must use a vpn in that case)

2. You can now click links on posts having torrents, it will download a .torrent file to your downloads folder. (note: it may even open directly)​
3. Double click the .torrent file and Qbittorrent will open.​

Profit! now wait until it finishes.

i have never used this software but on there website it says it downloads torrent files it also downloads links from websites that have videos.

as of right now, i am using Free Download Manager
it's just to right click on the torrent or the magnet, copy link, then click the plus sign in FDM and voila.
compared to transmission that i have used, FDM is much faster both down and up.

Is there a way that you can find out how big a torrent or a magnet link is before downloading it? I am new to downloading torrents. I have looked on the internet and found no information about the size of a torrent/magnet link. If anyone knows how, please let me know.

would'nt the preview screen in bittorrent/utorrent lets you see and choose all the files and details when the link is added.

Hey, I have a question, I want to download a magnet file but the size is insanely huge. Is there a way to download certain files without having to download everything? (Note: I’m using utorrent)

It depends on how the torrent is structured(?) If it's folder like, you can check and uncheck boxes to download. Something like this

You can unselect all and then select the ones you want. Might be easier that way. If you click in box of the first folder it will uncheck all, or right click and it will show up the option, i think

Yeah but unfortunately my i torrent seems to keep opening via google chrome, also on a MAC btw…

Don't use magnet if it's not working. Download the torrent file, and then open it via utorrent: File - Open File and select the torrent file

if chrome ask you "do you want to open the magnet link with uTorrent" then you doing it right if not, go into settings of utorrent and check if the "file association" is checked.

When you use magnet and you don't get the file structure of what going to be downloaded, you need to wait so the magnet loads in then you can uncheck

P.S.

My recomendation is to not use utorrent and use other ones like qbittorrent, reason for it was one version of the software had a hidden bitcoin miner and there been version using ads in weird ways

use a legacy version utorrent before they went all fucky , v.2.2.1, this mining stuff does it go back that far? the build is from 2011 when mining wasnt so prevalent

first you need a torrent client,

will do but any other FOSS client is also good (transmission, rtorrent etc)

then you find a tracker/torrent website like

look for whatever and click on magnet download/torrent download, a qbittorrent window will pop up and let you choose what files/folders to download you click "ok" and the download will start
