I have no love for handbrake and thus I stick to ffmpeg for various reasons. Everyone has their preferences after all. But, I use the GUI interface linked below since I get sick of writing bats or using command lines except when required for odd projects. So sharing in case others like ffmpeg as their go to as well but wish to be a bit lazier.
It will run on multiple OS if that is an issue as well considering it's just a GUI to ffmpeg.
And if you came here because you simply need more space, consider looking up a dock for HDDs and/or SSDs. They're getting quite nice as time progresses and cheaper. Also, most desktop users have spare drives as time goes on that are perfectly good but no longer useful so it's a nice idea for storage besides compressing everything to hell and back.
