It depends on quite few things.
I can say from my own experience that some parts of the VR streaming have been a bit bloated. I have Quest 3 and just 802.11ac 5Ghz wireless router in direct view and I cannot see that much difference between using link cable or wireless when even gaming PCVR with the Quest 3 (PC is wired to the same router with 1Gbps connection so that would be limiting the bandwidth more than the lack of the recommended WiFi6).
You can stream VR videos directly from your PC without your PC doing anything, just setup the PC link and DeoVR or whatever player you choose can fetch the videos from your PC and play them on the headset.
Streaming directly from the internet hasn't been a problem for me either, 100/10Mbps broadband and SLR at least works perfectly at 4K (with a bit of buffering but if you expect anything to work without a bit of buffering, IMO the problem is elsewhere), 8K and I need to load balance with my 200/20Mbps phone internet for not needing to basicly download the video.
After all the 4K video at standard quality at 30 fps is just around 50Mbps and VR porn very rarely actually goes for the real VR 4K resolution (as in 4K per eye) but it's just VR 2K (4K frame split in two). So, it's far from as demanding as a lot of people make it sound to be.
