I could explain, but I think a little lab experiment will help demonstrate what’s going on here. Get a balloon and a magic marker. Using the marker, draw a sketch of a pepperoni slice (like on a piece of pizza) on the balloon. Then blow up the balloon and watch what happens to the pepperoni you drew!
